5 c flour
3/4 c shortening
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
3 Tbsp sugar
1 pkg yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups buttermilk
Sift dry ingredients together.
Cut in shortening.
Add buttermilk, yeast and water, work until flour is moist. The mixture will be the consistency of heavy cake batter,
Cover and put in the fridge until ready for use.
When ready to use, take out as much as needed, roll on floured board to 1/2 in thick and cut.
Place on baking sheet, bake at 375F for25 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
The dough will keep several weeks in the fridge.
Deep fry in fat and coat in sugar for donuts. Use it for cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, biscuits.
